Pacific Northwest Offshore, June 10-13 2021, Illwaco to Port Angeles Wa.

Second in B Division, Steve and Sherri Smolinske, Jim and Ellen Brenden, Dave and Sheridan Ferguson, Jim McCone, Mark Ward.

 

 Lots of activity for the upcoming Pacific Cup, 4 new spinnakers, spinnaker staysail, new lee cloths and a new rudder.   Going with a great crew  Randy Doull, Jim and Ellen Brenden, Jim and Shannon McCone, Dave and Sheridan Ferguson and Sherri is coming along for her first off shore race!  Pictures on the blog of the new rudder be sure to check them out.  Went with a semi balanced rudder which required a little bit of surgery to the skeg. 

Our first real race with True Love, excited to see how she does after 3.5 years of work!

Well, The boat and crew did great!  We lost about an hour of time with a twisted spinnaker deployment.  Mr Twisty was so tightly wrapped after a slight dip overboard that we could not get the furler to work.  deployed a 35 year old cruising chute and headed into the night and the fog.  Got a little exciting on a gybe with the sheet fouled below the boat, slight incursion into the shipping lanes which resulted in our disqualification.   All that said and done our corrected time put us at first in class third overall had we not been DSQed.  Fun and memorable trip.
